→ After pulling steering wheel off, turn centring ring slightly so that the wire (arrow) faces downwards. (Hold steering wheel in installation position). The centring ring then locates and is prevented from turning.

If this step is not performed or if the centring ring is turned in an uncontrolled manner, it can lead to the coil connector in the centring ring being over-stressed at full lock, causing irreparable damage.

Installing

  • ‒ Fit steering wheel, screw on nut and tighten. Tightening torque: 50 Nm.
  • ‒ Connect airbag unit connector below steering wheel.
  • ‒ Install trim panel below steering column. Ensure that the centring ring cable connection is located in the recess in the trim panel.
  • ‒ Connect connector in steering wheel to airbag unit connector.
  • ‒ Install airbag unit =>Page 48-3

Note:

Use new hexagon socket head bolts for airbag unit.

  • ‒ After installing the airbag steering wheel first switch on ignition, then connect battery earth strap.
Warning!
Ensure that no one is in the vehicle when connecting the battery earth strap.
