Basic composition of paints |
Also called vehicle, it functions as a liquid support for
the pigment. It is responsible for the adherence of the paint to the
surface. The resin determines the type of paint (Polyester Base, Polyurethane
Enamel, Nitrocellulose and Synthetic). |
A solid substance, finely ground (in the form of powder),
is dispersed in the resin, which provides to the dry fim certain characteristics
such as color, opacity, covering and protection. |
Pigments with anti-corrosive properties |
These are present in the composition of base paints (primers).
They have the property of blocking rust. |
Additive is added to paint in small amounts to provide it
with special properties such as spread, shine, etc. Additives also
have the function to avoid problems with bubbles, craters (fish eye),
etc. |
Used for binding (mixture) of the pigment to the resin. It
controls viscosity, spread and application. The film is formed after
their evaporation. |
