Removal
Removal
Conditions
l  The fuel tank must only be half full.
  Note
t  Empty the fuel tank with a Fuel aspirator and tank -VAS 5190-.
t  Take safety precautions before starting removal → Chapter.
–  Check if the vehicle has code radio; if positive, check the anti-theft code.
–  With ignition off, disconnect earth wire from Battery -A-.
–  Remove the tank cap.
–  Empty the fuel tank and clean around the filling nozzle.
–  Tilt the seat bench forwards.
–  Remove the Fuel pump (pre-supply pump) -G6-access cover.
–  Disengage the 4-poles connector from Fuel pump (pre-supply pump) -G6-.
–  Remove right rear wheel.
–  Remove right rear wheel arch trim → Body - external assembly works; Rep. gr.66.
–  Release activated charcoal filter.
–  Loosen fuel nozzle on body.
–  Remove all supports from rear exhaust system on body. The exhaust system must be fastened to the body with wire, slightly lowered.
–  Remove the rear axle: → Chassis; Rep. gr.42.
  WARNING
Fuel supply line is under pressure. Wrap hose connections in cloth prior to loosening. Next, eliminate pressure by carefully removing hose.
   
–  Separate the supply hose -1- (black) and the breather hose -2- (white) on connection point.
–  Release tensioning belt and fastening screws, supporting the fuel tank with the Engine / gearbox or VAG 1383A jack -EQ 7081-.
–  Lower the fuel tank.
