Removing and installing Hall senderG40
Removing and installing Hall sender -G40-
»Carry out the following work sequence«
Removing
–  Remove engine cover panel → Chapter.
–  Remove fuel filter with bracket → Fuel supply; Rep. gr.20.
–  Remove poly V-belt → Chapter.
–  Remove front right wheel housing liner.
–  Remove vibration damper → Chapter.
(Golf, Golf Plus, Passat, Touran)
   
–  Pull connector -1- only off radiator outlet coolant temperature sender -G83-, open clips -arrows- and remove toothed belt guard.
Polo
–  Remove engine support → Chapter.
All other vehicles continued
During further work, toothed belt must be removed from idler roller and high-pressure pump.
  Note
2 versions of tensioning roller are fitted. They are not interchangeable. On making adjustments, first check which tensioning roller is fitted → Chapter „Differences in tensioning roller versions (for toothed belt)“.
Removing toothed belt from idler roller and high-pressure pump → Chapter.
  N15-10405
–  Disconnect connector -1- for Hall sender -G40- and pull connector out of retainer.
–  Detach plug from its retainer.
  A23-10424
–  Unscrew Hall sender -G40--arrow-.
  A23-0257
–  Remove webs and repair aperture cover -arrows- with a screwdriver.
–  Remove Hall sender -G40- from cylinder head and guide its plug through repair aperture in toothed belt guard.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence of removal. In the process, note the following:
t  Seal repair aperture in toothed belt guard with rubber plugs as specified in → Electronic parts catalogue (ETKA).
–  Fit toothed belt and adjust valve timing → Chapter.

–  Re-install engine support → Chapter.
