Adapter kit, Part No. 321 857 800 for Dasher (1981 model) and Quantum (earlier Dashers are equipped with two belt anchorage points in production,
allowing adjustment without use of an adapter)

A threaded plate
B shouldered bolt*
C bolt
D trim cover
E

screw*

shank partially reduced to 9.5 mm diameter

Work sequence

-

remove seat belt mounting on B-pillar

-

remove lower seat belt mounting

-

remove door weather seals in area of B-pillar trim

-

remove B-pillar trim

-

mount threaded plate A in position with washer G and bolt C

^

tightening torque: 40 N-m (29 ft.lbs.)

-

install screw E with D6 locking compound and tighten until face of screw is flush with face of threaded plate

-

cut opening in B-pillar trim for new trim cover (area to be cut marked on back)

-

install B-pillar trim

-

install trim cover D (snaps over threaded plate)

-

install door weather seals

-

install lower seat belt mounting

-

assemble seat belt swivel with spacer F and shouldered bolt B and install to threaded plate

^

tightening torque: 40 N-m (29 ft.lbs.)

Note

The belt swivel must move freely after assembly. If not, check washer arrangement.
