Radiator: Service and Repair

Radiator

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Refractometer T10007

^

Adapter V.A.G 1274/8

^

Drip tray V.A.G 1306 or drip tray VAS 6208

^

Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

^

Spring-type clip pliers VAS 5024A

^

Cooling system charge unit VAS 6096

Removing 

-

Remove noise insulation.

-

Remove the front bumper.

-

Bring lock carrier into service position. See: Body and Frame/Lock Carrier/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement

-

Drain coolant.

-

Disconnect all coolant hoses from radiator.

-

Remove fan support with fans.

-

Remove bolts - 1 - from radiator bearing.

-

Swing radiator slightly toward rear.

-

Remove condenser bolts - 2 -.

-

Remove side bolt - arrow - from condenser on radiator.

-

Take radiator up and out.

Installing 

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Note:

When installing a new radiator, old coolant must not be reused.

Fill with coolant.
