Variable Valve Timing Actuator: Service and Repair

Camshaft Adjuster Valves

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required 

^

Torque wrench V.A.G 1783

^

Torx(R) bit assortment V.A.G 1766

^

Ratchet 1/4" VAS 6234

^

Socket wrench T10072

Removing: 

-

Remove intake manifold.

-

Disconnect 2 pin connector from Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor G62 - arrow -.

-

Drain the coolant.

-

Remove coolant thermostat housing.

-

Remove cylinder head cover Cylinder Head Cover.

-

Disconnect the secondary air injection pressure hoses

Note: 

^

Before disconnecting harness connectors, mark allocation to component.

-

Disconnect connector from Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor G40 - 1 - and Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor 2 G163 - 2 -.

-

Disconnect connectors - 3 - and - 4 -.

-

Free up the wiring harness.

-

Remove camshaft roller chain tensioner - arrow -.
