Combination Switch: Service and Repair
Steering Column Switch, Removing And Installing
CAUTION: When disconnecting and connecting battery, the procedure must be followed as described.
Removing:
When removing the complete steering column switches including base carrier, it is disassembled and steering lock housing is also removed with it. New
shear bolts are required for installing steering lock housing. Also, if only one individual component of steering column switch is removed or replaced, the
sequence described in the following must always be adhered to.

Disconnect battery.

Remove steering wheel.

Remove steering column trim.
Remove steering column switch assembly components in the following sequence:

Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module J527
-
Airbag Spiral Spring/Return Spring With Slip Ring F138
-
Steering Angle Sensor G85
-
Turn signal switch
-
Windshield Wiper Switch E
-
Base carrier for steering column switches
Installing:
Install in reverse order of removal.
Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module J527, removing and Installing
NOTE:
-
After installing a new control module, it must be coded.

If malfunctions occur at steering column switch, coding of control module must be checked.
Removing:
-
Remove bolt -1-.

On the Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module J527, slide e.g. a wire or a drill 2.5 mm -2- approx. 45 mm into hole -arrow 1-,
whereby the retaining tab -arrow 2- in front catch is released.
