Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair

Sealing Flange, Vibration Damper Side

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Counter holder tool (T10069)

‹› Assembly tool (T10215)

‹› Torque wrench (VAG 1601)

‹› Torque wrench (VAG 1332)

Removing

-

Remove engine. Refer to --> [ Engine, Removing ] See: Service and Repair/Engine Removing.

Remove ribbed belt. Refer to --> [ Ribbed Belt ] See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt/Service and Repair/Ribbed Belt.

For assembly work, engine should be secured on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095). Refer to --> [ Securing Engine to Engine and
Transmission Holder ] See: Service and Repair/Securing Engine to Engine and Transmission Holder.

Remove vibration damper. To do so, lock vibration damper using counter holder tool (T10069).

Remove oil pan. Refer to --> [ Oil Pan ] See: Engine Lubrication/Oil Pan/Service and Repair.

Remove the sealing flange bolts and sealing flange.

-

Remove sealant residue on sealing surfaces.

Installing

-

Before installing, remove oil remains from end of crankshaft with a clean cloth.

-

Cut tube nozzle at front marking (nozzle dia. approximately 3 mm).
