CRANKSHAFT END PLAY, ADJUSTING

Apply light film of oil on both sides of thrust washer A. Install with tab (arrow) pointing toward crankshaft bearing.

install shim B next to thrust washer A

-

install flywheel without oil seal E, o-ring F

-

mount dial indicator with bracket on crankcase Proceed to determine thickness of shims C

Example 
dial indicator reading

0.44 mm (0.017 in.)

specified end play

-0.10 mm (0.004 in.)

thickness of shims C

0.34 mm (0.013 in.)

-

remove flywheel

-

install shims C, D, and oil seal E

-

install flywheel with F

-

tighten bolts to 110 N-m (80 ft. lb.)

-

recheck crankshaft end play

On crankshafts the blue or red code can also appear in position three.
