Cylinder Honing

If piston clearance is not excessive, hone cylinder to next oversize:
-

Use a honing tool Carefully wipe clean cylinder bores after honing.

Note: Rotate crankshaft a quarter turn so that the honing tool does not strike against crank pins.

Check Piston For Wear

Clean and check pistons:
-

Remove piston rings. Use piston ring pliers.

Remove all soot deposits. Scrape clean piston ring grooves, using a groove cleaner or with a broken, ground piston ring.

Check for:
-

damage.

-

wear.

-

cracks.
