THIS SERVICE MANAGER BULLETIN APPLIES TO BOTH THE U.S. AND CANADA
Beginning with 1985 model/year vehicles in the United States, and 1981 model/ year vehicles in Canada, Volvo provided a Corrosion Protection
Warranty.
Volvo has received a number of inquiries concerning the inspection portion of the Corrosion Protection Warranty. The primary question being, "If the
vehicle is brought in by an owner after the applicable inspection span, will the Corrosion Warranty still be honored and should the inspection be
completed?"
The intent of the warranty is to provide rather than exclude coverage for the Volvo owner.
Therefore, effective immediately the inspection spans on an 1985 model/year and later vehicles only win be expanded to six months from the retail or in
service anniversary.
First Inspection
12 to 18 Months
Second Inspection
24 to 30 Months
Third Inspection
36 to 42 Months
Fourth Inspection
48 to 54 Months
Fifth Inspection
60 to 66 Months
Owners of the 1985 and later vehicles will be notified by Volvo as to the change in inspection criteria.
Owners of 1985 vehicles who have not met or returned for the first inspection requirement will be given a one time opportunity to be reinstated into the
program by having the inspection completed by a Volvo Dealer.
It should be understood by the Dealers and Owners that there is a shared responsibility in maintaining the Corrosion Protection Warranty.

Dealers administrate and ensure understanding by Owners.

Owners comply with the requirements of the Warranty.
The Corrosion Protection Warranty will be void on vehicles which are not inspected within the yearly span.
