Timing Belt Tensioner: Service and Repair

Timing Belt Tensioner, Inspection/Replacement

Special tool: 9802

Remove timing belt. See: Timing Belt/Service and Repair

Check tensioner

Spin pulley and listen for noise. Check manually for bearing play.

Check that pulley surface in contact with belt is clean and smooth.

Remove tensioner 

Compress tensioner spring and lock with 3 mm drill bit.

Remove:
- tensioner locknut
- pulley (pull straight off)
