Center Support: Service and Repair
Removal

1. Remove the front propeller shaft section.

Remove the center Support bearing bracket.

Disconnect the propeller shaft from the transmission's coupling flange. Socket P/N 5244 for shafts with universal joint and 15 mm bolt head.
Slip off the rubber ring, if any, from the rubber boot and pull apart the shaft.

2. Remove the center support bearing from the propeller shaft.

Remove the rubber boot, put the bearing cage in a V block and press out the propeller shaft. (The bearing, the cage and the protective rings are
pressed off simultaneously.)

Use a sleeve of suitable size.

3. Check to see if the bearing cage is damaged. If it is damaged, the bearing does not have to be taken out of the cage.

4. Press the bearing out of the cage. Use a suitable sleeve.
5. Replace defective parts. See different center support bearing types in "Description and Operation".
