Wastegate Housing And Gasket

This step is recommended to be followed only after a boost pressure test (refer to TURBO BOOST PRESSURE TEST under TURBO
CHARGER) shows, that normal boost pressure cannot be obtained.

a. Remove turbo charger wastegate housing (refer to COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR PROCEDURES). 
b. Inspect wastegate valve for free operation, carbon build-up and signs of over heating. Remove carbon or replace valve housing as needed.
c. Inspect valve housing for cracks and leakage at turbo charger housing gasket.

A leak is usually caused by a warped valve housing and can be repaired by using a special gasket available at your Volvo dealer.

Repair or replace valve housing as needed and reinstall valve housing.

If any repairs where performed, recheck boost pressure (refer to TURBO BOOST PRESSURE TEST under TURBO CHARGER) and adjust if
necessary.

Sealing Link Rod

Seal wastegate rod with Volvo part #9986408-4 or equivalent.

NOTE: To prevent seal from vibrating loose, it is important that the wire is firmly wrapped around sleeve.
