REPLACING COOLANT PUMP O-RING
If the coolant pump is moved from its original position, (as it is when a new gear belt is fitted) the pump should be removed and a new O-ring (P/N
1257197-2) fitted to eliminate the risk of leakage. Coolant leakage is most likely to occur on high mileage vehicles.
REMOVE COOLANT PUMP
Remove retaining screws for cover panel and coolant pump. Move panel to one side and lift away pump. Take care not to bend the panel. Remove the
O-ring.
CLEAN
Clean the contact face for the pump on the cylinder block. Dry the cylinder block, sprocket etc.
GREASE A NEW O-RING AND PLACE IN PUMP
DO NOT USE PERMATEX OR OTHER SEALERS.
Smear a thin layer of grease on the pump contact face.
Place the pump in position, holding the cover to one side.
Insert the pump retaining screws. Do not tighten until final assembly.
Refit the cover retaining screws.
