Removing Protective Cover

Remove connector protective sleeve.
CAUTION:^ Never check connections from the front. Connectors can get damaged and worsen the problem.
^ Check connections through the holes in the connector.
^ Connection pin numbers are printed on the connector side.
Checking Suppressor Relay

Check suppressor relay (located at coolant expansion tank) by connecting a lead from ECU connector pin 21 to ground.

Connect the voltmeter to suppressor relay connector #2 and ground.
Reading: approx. 12 volts

If not, check blue-yellow wire to system relay. Fix as needed. If wire is O.K., check system relay (see SYSTEM RELAY).
9.
Check ground connection lead from suppressor relay connector #1 to ground. Fix as necessary.
10.
Connect the voltmeter to suppressor relay connector #4 and ground.
Reading: approx. 12 volts
11.
If not, repair wire (red or brown) leading to the battery.
12.
Connect the voltmeter to suppressor relay connector #3 and ground.
Reading: approx. 12 volts
a. If reading is 12 volts, relay is working correctly.
b. If reading is different, replace and retest with new suppressor relay.
