Shift Lever Housing: Service and Repair
Gear Shift Boot (Gaiter)

1. Removal

-

Remove the gear selector knob as per steps 1 and 2 of replacement. See: Gear Shift Knob

-

Free gaiter from shutter.

-

Cut cord and remove gaiter.

-

Remove gaiter retaining clip.

2. Installation of new gaiter

-

Remove foam padding from new gaiter.

-

Turn gaiter inside out

-

Thread gaiter onto knob with seams to side.

-

Tighten cord and press clip into position (with rounded edge against knob).

3. Turn gaiter right side out

-

Reinstall foam padding in gaiter.

-

Press knob and gaiter onto lever as per step 3 of Replacement. See: Gear Shift Knob 

-

Tighten cord.

-

Cut off excess length.
