Braking Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
Pedal Sensor, Replacement [LF]
NOTE: There are two types of pedal sensor. An older version and a later version, but the procedure for replacing the pedal sensor is the same for both
types.
The pedal sensor spares kit contains the sensor, circlip, 0-ring and color-coded spacer sleeve which goes on pedal sensor.
NOTE: Remember that the sleeve color code must match that on the car's power brake booster.
Removal [LF1]

Check that ignition is switched off.

Depress brake pedal a few times to remove any vacuum in the power brake booster.

Remove connector.

Open circlip and remove sensor from power brake booster.
Installing [LF2]

Check power brake booster color code and select a spacer sleeve with the same color.

Install the right spacer sleeve on the pedal sensor.

Install new 0-ring on sensor.

Check that hole for pedal sensor in power brake booster is clean.

Install pedal sensor and new circlip in power brake booster and push sensor in until it snaps into place.

Install connector.
Checking for leaks [LF3]

Check there are no air leaks in the power brake booster. Follow checking procedure as per LG. Power brake booster, checking for leaks. See:
