- Undo antenna cap retaining nut. Remove cap.
- Turn on radio.
- Grasp antenna mast.
- Pull out sleeve in antenna tube.
- Clean sleeve internally and externally with a cloth and solvent, WD40.
- Wipe sleeve until dry and clean to ensure satisfactory contact between antenna mast and tube.
- Clean lower section of antenna mast with cloth and solvent, WD40.
- Wipe mast until dry and clean.
- Reinstall antenna mast in tube.
- Reinstall sleeve. Ensure that contact tags on sleeve are bent to maintain contact with both antenna tube and mast.
Two different types of sleeve are used:
Sleeve with one tag (A), in which tag is first bent outward against tube and then inward against mast. Sleeve with two tags (B), in which one tag is bent
inward and second tag is bent outward.
Antenna Inspection
INSPECTION AND REINSTALLATION OF ANTENNA CAP
- Inspect antenna cap. Replace cap if cracked.
