Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair
Long Cable (Live Rear Axle)

BRAKE CABLE, REPLACEMENT (live rear axle)

Long cable

AF1

- Remove centre console.

AF2

- Remove rear seat cushion. Fold back rear of carpet to expose cable lead-through.

AF3

- Remove cable:

‹› Slacken parking brake adjuster. Bend aside locking tab and release cable from lever. Remove cable.
‹› Withdraw cable from spring sleeve (earlier version).

AF4

- Jack up and support rear of car. Remove left rear wheel:

‹› Mark wheel position if locating stud is not fitted.

AF5

- Remove brake caliper:

‹› Tie caliper to rear spring with steel wire to avoid damage to brake hose.

AF6

- Remove:

‹› brake disc
‹› rear return spring
‹› brake shoes
