Instrument Panel Circuit Board: Service and Repair

Flexible circuit card to rear of combined Instrument panel, replacement

Remove combined Instrument panel.   See: Service and Repair

VDO circuit card, replacement ....................................................................................................................................................................................  S10 
1982-1983 

- 

Remove all bulb sockets.

- 

Remove rheostat.   See: Service and Repair

- 

Carefully pry off connector holders with a screwdriver.

- 

Remove all screws and nuts retaining circuit card.

- 

Remove connector seal (of lead) from speedometer.

- 

Detach circuit card from backplate by carefully pulling out crimped terminals.

- 

Remove flexible circuit card.

- 

Fit new unit.

- 

Reassemble in reverse order. Insert new seal. Tighten all screws well.

- 

Test.

Yazaki circuit card, replacement ..................................................................................................................................................................................  S11

Before replacing circuit card, check that there Is no corrosion between screws and circuit card, and also that all screws are really tight.
- 

Remove one screw at a time, and carefully scrape circuit card to clean up surfaces beneath screws.

- 

Replace screws and tighten securely.

- 

Reassemble all connectors and check that everything works.

Check that there is no corrosion between screws and circuit card, as per S11.

- 

Remove backing plate from housing by removing screws around the edge.
