Thermostatic Air Cleaner: Testing and Inspection

For an exact test, it is necessary to remove the shutter housing and thermostat. Test the thermostat by spraying "freeze spray" on to the thermostat wax
housing or by setting it into ice coold water. The thermostat shaft should retract into the wax housing.
Use a hot air gun to heat the thermostat housing. The shaft should now extend out of the housing. Fig. 68.
If the thermostat shaft does not move as described, replace and retest with new thermostat.

Thermostatic Air Control thermostat:

Hot air (thermostat shaft retracted) only to 5°C (41°F)
Cold air (thermostat shaft extended) only from 15°C (59°F)
