Removing Protective Sleeve

5.

Remove connector protective sleeve and reinstall fuse #1 for testing.
CAUTION:^ Never check connections from the front. Connectors can get damaged and worsen the problem.

^ Check connections through the holes in the connector.
^ Connection pin numbers are printed on the connector side.

Checking Suppressor Relay

Connect a voltmeter between ground and pin 18.

Connect a lead between ground and pin 21.

Both the system relay and the suppressor relay should now be closed. Check voltmeter indicator.

Reading: approx. 12 volts

a. If reading is the same, suppressor relay is O.K., proceed with step 16.
b. If reading is different, see next step.

9.

Check suppressor relay (located in front of coolant expansion tank). Do not disconnect the lead from pin 21 to ground.

10.

Connect the voltmeter to suppressor relay connector #2 and ground.

Reading: approx. 12 volts

11.

If not, check blue-yellow wire to system relay. Fix as needed. If wire is O.K., check system relay (see SYSTEM RELAY).

12.

Check ground connection lead from suppressor relay connector #1 to ground. Fix as necessary.

13.

Connect the voltmeter to suppressor relay connector #4 and ground.

Reading: approx. 12 volts

14.

If not, repair red wire leading to the battery.

15.

Connect the voltmeter to suppressor relay connector #3 and ground.
