Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1.
Turn ignition OFF.
2.
Remove fuel return and vacuum hose from pressure regulator.
3.
With a shop towel, cover the fuel pressure regulator to rail connection.
WARNING: Fuel lines are under pressure. Fuel may spray from loose connection until pressure is relieved.
4.
Loosen the two regulator mounting bolts slowly and catch excess fuel with towel.
5.
Remove regulator.
INSTALLATION
1.
Check the regulator O-ring. Replace it if hard or damaged. Smear O-ring with Vaseline (or equivalent) before reinstalling pressure regulator.
2.
Remount new pressure regulator to fuel rail.
3.
Reconnect fuel and vacuum line.
4.
Start engine and check for leaks at pressure regulator.
