Inspect the MFI control module in the vehicle to verify the correct E PROM required. The best way to find out if a car has been already updated is to
check the label on the LH MFI control module in the car against the chart above. If the label has either the program code (Vxxxxxxx) AND/OR the part
number indicated under the "updated MFI LH2.4 Control Module Identification" column, the car has the latest programming.
If a verified owner complaint necessitates this repair, you must ensure that the upgrade has not already been performed on the vehicle.
Non-EGR 240 models before the chassis numbers indicated above may have had an updated control module already installed. If control module p/n
9146223-4 or 5003926-2 is installed, the car already has the new programming.
Non-EGR 240 models before the chassis numbers indicated above which have had the low volatility fuel E FROM already installed can be identified by
a label indicating "ECU 93" on the front passenger door.
For all other applicable LH2.4 variants, previously updated 1993 or earlier cars can also be identified by a label indicating "ECU 93" on the front
passenger door.

it is critical to the success of this operation that this procedure is performed by a trained technician and followed exactly as written, Failure to do so
may result in electrostatic discharge (ESD) causing damage to the E PROM or other control module components. Such damage will not be given
warranty consideration.
