Replacement of PUR bonded windows

The window is among other things also a vital support for the passenger airbag. To ensure proper bond the Volvo PUR kit of type 2K (P/N 1161381-7)
must be used.

To ensure a good bond when replacing bonded windows, all bonding surfaces on the body must be prepared with RIM activator P/N 1161373-4. This
applies in oases where there are mixed adhesion surfaces including paintwork (intermediate layer or topcoats) or PUR residue where the surface has been
scraped clean. RIM activator ensures PUR bonding for all combinations of bonding surface and can be used instead of applying several different types of
activators.

Note: 

If parts or all of the body flange have been painted a paint primer must be used as usual according to the Service Manual for the newly painted
surfaces. Where there are both newly painted and original surfaces both primer and RIM activator must be used for the respective surfaces.

RIM activator is best applied with the felt brush supplied in the PUR bonding kit. RIM activator evaporates rapidly, a window is ready for bonding
within approx. 2 minutes.

Check the expiration date on the PUR bonding kit. Check both the package and the tubes of adhesive. Do not use PUR materials that have expired. On
the packaging it may state a "Best before:" or "Use before:" date. The "Best before" date should be treated as the expiration date.
