Guidelines for changing
It is recommended that brake fluid is changed every other year. On cars that are exposed to heavy and frequent braking, for example, mountain driving or
driving in tropical climates with high humidity, the brake fluid must be changed every year.
Background
The brake fluid is hydroscopic, i.e. the fluid absorbs water molecules from the air. This occurs via the brake hoses and the brake fluid reservoir, which
are made of rubber and plastic, and is not impervious to water molecules.
High water content lowers the brake fluid's boiling point greatly, and causes corrosion in the brake system. This damages the brake system, and reduces
its function considerably.
Note! Use only Volvo Genuine Parts brake fluid (Volvo DOT 4+). Never reuse brake fluid. Always keep brake fluid in original pack and well
sealed.

Preparations
Ignition off

Raise the car and remove the wheels.

Clean the filler cap for the brake fluid reservoir.

Remove the filler cap.

Use a collecting bottle with a hose to collect the brake fluid.

Set the bleeding unit to 0.2-0.3 MPa.
Connecting the bleeding unit

Connect the bleeding unit to the brake fluid reservoir.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for connecting and use of the unit.
Changing the brake fluid, left front
Remove:
-
the protective cap from the bleed nipple on the front left brake caliper.
Connect the collecting bottle hose.
Open the nipple approximately one turn.
