Note:
Oil grade: Only ATF oil, Volvo P/N 1161540-8 (1 liter containers) may be used
WARNING! Avoid skin contact with the transmission fluid
Check the oil by taking a sample with the dipstick.
Discolored or burnt smell?

Check whether diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) TCM-0042 or TCM-0046 are stored

Also fault-trace the transmission for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-0046

Is there water in the oil (gray discoloration)?

Determine the cause of water in the oil

Replace transmission.
Flush oil cooler, pipes and oil hoses
