Steering Wheel: Removal and Replacement
Steering wheel module and steering wheel
Special tools:
998 8695 TEST DEVICE See: Tools and Equipment/998 8695 Test Device
Preparations
Prepare the car in accordance with: Note when disconnecting and connecting the battery lead See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and
Repair/Procedures/Battery, Disconnecting.
Removing the steering wheel module

Remove the steering column covers in accordance with: Steering column panels See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard /
Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Steering Column Panels.

Turn the ignition key to position I so that the steering wheel lock unlocks.

Undo the two screws (angled 45°, Torx 30) on the rear of the steering wheel.

Detach the SRS connectors (A) from the steering wheel module by pressing the lock on the side.

Carefully pull the connectors straight out. Do not use a tool which could damage a connector, see: Igniter wire connector See: Restraint

Connector.

Remove the steering wheel module.

Put the steering wheel module with connector side down in a safe place. The steering wheel module must not be covered with anything.
