S40 L5-2.4L VIN 38 B5244S4 (2004)
Remove the plate from 999 2709 SLEDGE See: Tools and Equipment/999 2709 Sledge.
Fit 999 7219 Extractor See: Tools and Equipment/999 7219 Extractor on the sledge hammer.
Carefully tap down the puller in the bottom of the shift rail.
Screw in the puller screw.
Remove the seal.
Caution! If the shaft is rusty, first clean away any rust. Clean around the flange, not up and down.Use sand paper 951 1024 or a very fine
emery cloth to clean the shaft.
Clean around the shaft with isopropyl alcohol and blow it clean with compressed air.
