Center Mounted Brake Lamp: Service and Repair

High mounted stop lamp

NOTE:  The illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models. Some variation may occur. However, the essential
information in the illustrations is always correct.

Removal

Removing the stop lamp

NOTE:  The front windshield does not need to be removed when replacing the brake light.

Lower the headlining.

Disconnect the connector.
Mark up the location of the stop lamp.

NOTE:  The brake light is bonded to the headlining at four points.

CAUTION:  The brake light must be removed from the headlining. This must be done carefully as the headlining is fragile.

Use a weatherstrip tool to separate as close to the stop lamp bonding as possible. This is to avoid damaging the headlining.

Function test

Connect the stop lamp connector.

Test the function.

Disconnect the connector.
