DIM Illumination Introduced
DESCRIPTION:
In MY 2006 a feature to program the illumination of the DIM (Driver Information Module) was introduced. The feature is active (set to ON) in cars built
2005w46 or later (see below for chassis breaks) and can be useful for reading the mileage without entering the car.
When the feature is active, the DIM will illuminate the odometer, trip meter, clock and outside temperature when:

The car is unlocked.

The key is removed from the ignition.
The displays will remain lit for 30 seconds or until the car is locked. Locking the car will immediately turn the display off.
The photo shows the illuminated odometer, trip meter, clock and outside temperature.
The DIM illumination feature is active (set to ON) in MY06 cars starting with the following chassis numbers:

In MY06 cars built prior to the chassis breaks above, the DIM illumination feature is not active (set to OFF).
