Expansion valve, replacing

Before starting work on the expansion valve

Warning! Follow the safety instructions for work on air conditioning (A/C) systems. 

Note! Read the instructions covering slow and quick leaks. See Oil in the A/C system See: Refrigerant Oil/Service and Repair 

Note! Always plug the pipes and connections when working on the climate control system.

Removal

First read section  Before starting work on the expansion valve

Disconnect the battery negative lead. See Battery, replacing See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Battery, Replacing

Drain the refrigerant from the system. 

-

Remove the engine stabilizer brace in the engine compartment. For 5 cylinder engines

-

Remove the engine stabilizer brace in the engine compartment. For 6 cylinder engines

Open:

-

the clamp for the refrigerant pipe on the side member.
