Repairs and Inspections Required After a Collision: Service and Repair
SRS components, replacing
After a collision in which the SRS system has been deployed
The following components must always be replaced if they have been activated and/or deployed in the event of a collision:
Caution! Read "Cleaning after an airbag has deployed" before starting work. See: Cleaning after an airbag has deployed See: Service and

Airbag driver's side (SRS), including the contact reel.
Note! Check the steering wheel if the driver's airbag (SRS) has been activated.

The seat belt with seat belt tensioner, including seat belt buckles front and/or rear

Passenger airbag (SRS) and relevant SRS ignition cable.
Note! Replace the dashboard if the passenger airbag (SRS) has been activated.

Inflatable curtain (IC).
Note! If the inflatable curtain (IC) has deployed, replace the headlining and the relevant panel for the posts.

Airbag module seat (SIPS).
Note! Replace the upholstery on the seat backrest if the seat airbag module (SRS) has been activated.
The following components must always be inspected and replaced if damaged:

The steering wheel
-
The steering column, all functions
-
Sun roof
-
The front windshield and the bonding for the front windshield.
Note! PUR adhesive must be used when replacing the front windshield. Carefully remove all broken glass. Also check the ventilation ducts.
Only applies to USA:
Note! The brackets must be replaced if the dashboard or the lower panel on the driver's side is damaged. Tighten the new brackets. Tighten to
25 Nm.

The driver information module (DIM), if applicable

The SIPS members in the doors in the event of a side collision
-
Collision sensors (SRS) B and C-posts in the event of a side collision.
Note! Only replace collision sensors (SRS) if these are damaged or if a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has been stored.

The entire rear seat assembly with accompanying posts and anchorages if these have been affected during the collision.
Note! The supplemental restraint system module (SRS) must only be replaced if:

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0001 is stored
-
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) cannot be erased when the car is repaired, there is still a fault in a collision sensor (SRS).

There is mechanical damage to the collision sensor (SRS)
-
There is mechanical damage to the floor of the car around the collision sensor (SRS). This could weaken the mounting for the collision sensor
(SRS).
Remove the collision sensor (SRS). Check that there are no cracks in the mountings. Only replace the collision sensor (SRS) if it is damaged.

Check the WHIPS system for the front seats.
Note! The WHIPS system must be checked every time there has been a collision.
After a collision in which the SRS system has NOT been deployed
The following components must always be replaced if they have been activated and/or deployed in the event of a collision:

The seat belt assembly, including seat belt buckles, front and/or rear
