SERVICE:
If a lower spring insulator PN 30748995 is broken according to Photo 1 of the attachment then there is no immediate need to replace it with a new one
instead carry out the following:
- Clean the area around the lower spring seat; remove gravel stones etc.
- Cut off the loose part from the broken insulator as shown in Photo 2 of the attachment; the removed part will not cause any knocking noise.
- Continue to fault trace the car for other causes:
1. Check torque for upper top-mount bearing (PN 30683637) 2 x 70 Nm and to the body 3 x 25 Nm also check if this bearing have any damages
according to RTJ 13876.
2. Check torque for the front anti-roll bar links upper 90 Nm (66.4 lbf-ft) and lower 60 Nm (44.3 lbf-ft).
3. Check other front suspension parts. If the noise can not be found use the Chassis Ears toolkit.
