Lift out the tunnel console. Be careful not to damage the trim on the handle of the handbrake lever.
Hint: Wrap the handle with tape for protection.
For cars with integrated telephone

Remove the handset with holder.

Unplug the cable with rubber grommet from the storage compartment.
Preparations, tunnel console
Applies to cars up to and including model year 2004

Drill two -12 mm (15/32 ") holes centred in bottom of the storage compartment in the rear edge of the tunnel console. Pre-drill with a small bit.

Use a compressed-air powered saw inserted in the hole to carefully saw along the markings between the holes.

Even out the hole edges and remove the swarf.
