Volvo's continuing effort to protect and preserve the global environment does not end on the design drawing board. Innovative repair solutions that help
reduce the amount of waste are equally important. One repair that leaves a large amount of waste is repair of loose door panel inserts. As repaired today,
the complete door panel is replaced.
In the future, if a door panel insert (the material covering the inset for the release handle, grab handle and window switches) is loose, it will no longer be
necessary to replace the complete door panel. A procedure for repairing the door panels has been developed. This repair method has been developed and
tested with the assistance of select retailers in the North American Market.
This repair kit contains 2 replacement inserts and the necessary material to properly attach them to the existing door panels. Inserts are replaced in pairs.
A tool kit containing hand tools needed to complete the repair will automatically be allocated to your facility.
Since this will be a different way of handling such a customer complaint, we would like to inform you of 2 key changes in order to assist you in
preparation and scheduling:

At time of write up, instruct Service Advisors to inspect door panels for damage or wear-and-tear that will not be repaired by insert replacement.
Inform customer of damage, and document as necessary.

You will be paid 1.9 hours for two front inserts and 1.5 hours for two rear inserts as compared to complete door panel replacement. Please take note
and schedule accordingly.
The tool kit will contain a copy of the Service Bulletin and a video illustration. Please take time to read through the information and view the video (8
minutes).
This is not a complicated repair and does not require your highest trained Technician, but perhaps someone skilled in upholstery replacement or repair.
