Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

Crankshaft Seal Rear, Replacing 

Special Tools:  999 5112, 999 5651, 999 1801, 999 5678, 999 5676, 951 2050

NOTE:  As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models, some variation may occur. However, the
essential information is always correct.

Removing the flywheel and carrier plate

Remove the transmission:

-

Remove the flywheel/carrier plate. Use gear sector 999 5112 as a counterhold when slackening off the screws.

Removing the seal 

NOTE:  Do not damage the mating surfaces of the crankshaft and cylinder block

Remove the old seal using extractor 999 5651.
