Loosen both hinge bolts from the right hinge of the lower tailgate section.

2.

Place a large screwdriver or a pry bar between the pin head and the loose left bolt.

Be sure to apply electrical tape around the screwdriver tip to minimize the risk for paint damage to the bolts and surrounding area.
