XC90 L5-2.5L Turbo VIN 59 B5254T2 (2004)
Press out the stub axle. At the same time pull the drive shaft from the gearbox.
Hang the drive shaft from a hook 999 5045 COMPRESSION HOOK See: Tools and Equipment/999 5045 Compression Hook.
Note! Be careful to not damage the drive shaft boot.
Loosen the ball joint from the control arm. Refer to: Ball joint, replacing See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Ball Joint/Service and Repair
Tightening torque
For tightening torques, see Specifications See: Specifications/Mechanical Specifications/Steering.
Installing the stub axle
Install:
-
the stub axle on the trailing arm
-
a new nut on the ball joint. Tighten. For tightening torques, see Specifications See: Specifications/Mechanical Specifications/Steering. Use a Torx
spanner as counterhold.
Note! Make sure that the mating surfaces on the ball joint and control arm are clean.
