VEHICLES VALID FOR AUU INSTALLATION
DESCRIPTION:
Volvo vehicles currently have two different systems that will allow iPod/USB functionality to be controlled from a MOST (Media Oriented Systems
Transport) based vehicle's audio system:
1. Accessory installed (AUU)
Uses a separate MOST node (AUU) Auxiliary USB Unit.
2. Factory equipped (IAM integrated)
The USB/iPod function is integrated within the IAM (Integrated Audio Module).
This new IAM was introduced during the 4th quarter of 2008 production along with HD radio (see RTJ 20233 for chassis limits).
These two systems although similar in operation are NOT interchangeable and have specific chassis limitations.
The Accessory installed USB/iPod interface, also referred to as AUU will only work when installed in vehicles within the chassis limitation above.
Vehicles produced after the limitations are supplied from the factory with USB/iPod functionality integrated within the IAM with the 2 exceptions listed
below.
IMPORTANT:
Please be aware that it is possible to incorrectly fit the hardware for an AUU on vehicles that have IAM integrated USB. However, the SW application
will not be able to be ordered as it is not valid. There will be a VIDA error 131 posted as a result.
