Removing and installing dust and pollen filter
Removing and installing dust and pollen filter
  Note
t  Heed replacement interval → Maintenance tables.
t  Different versions: Vehicles with no air conditioner or with a manually controlled air conditioner are currently fitted with a dust and pollen filter with no activated charcoal filter element, whereas on vehicles with automatically controlled air conditioner, an activated charcoal filter element is provided → Electronic parts catalogue.
t  It may be necessary to remove the driving instructor's pedals on driving school vehicles (depending on version, the driving instructor's pedals may be provided with service disconnection points), heed → Fitting instructions for driving school equipment.
   
Removing
–  Place paper over the floor covering in the passenger's footwell beneath the dust and pollen filter (to catch the dirt emerging).
–  Press the sliders -1, 3- together -arrows A- into the centre.
–  Detach -arrow B- the slot cover -2- downwards.

–  Pull the filter frame -2- out of the housing -3-.
–  Detach the dust and pollen filter -1- from the filter frame.
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
–  Before fitting a new filter, use a dust extractor for example to clean the area around the dust and pollen filter in the heater/air conditioning unit slot.

–  Pay attention to the direction of flow on inserting the dust and pollen filter -4- in the filter frame -1-.
l  The flow direction is indicated by „arrows“ on the dust and pollen filter -3- and the filter frame -2-.
–  Insert the dust and pollen filter such that the first layer -5- engages in the filter frame at the top and bottom.
l  There must not be any flow of air past the filter.

–  Fit the slot cover -1- and press -arrows- the sliders -2, 3- outwards as far as they will go.
  Note
The slot cover is not correctly positioned in its mount if one of the sliders cannot be pressed into the end position.
