Detaching and re-attaching pulley from/onto compressor
  Note
t  If the pulley overload safeguard has been released, check that the compressor is moving freely before replacing the pulley. Replace the entire compressor if stiff.
t  The pulley overload protection function is described e.g. in → No.240.
t  Depending on the engine version, detaching the pulley may involve detaching the compressor from the engine → Chapter.
t  The compressor can be removed from the bracket and re-attached to it without opening the refrigerant pipes.
t  Before removing it, mark the running direction of the poly-V-belt with chalk or a felt-tipped pen. If the belt runs in the opposite direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage.
t  Different compressors are installed depending on the engine, the vehicle type (A2, A3, A4 etc.), and the country version (attached to the right or left of engine, 6 cyl. petrol or diesel engine, hot or cold country). Check that the arrangement is correct → Parts List
