• Backrest
• Side airbag module

• ◆ Removing
• ‒ Remove seat
• ‒ Remove fitting panel => Page72-147
• ‒ Detach yellow plug of airbag cable underneath seat.
• ‒ Detach black plug of airbag earthing cable underneath the seat.

• ‒ Loosen bolt -4- of retaining tab -6- at bottom of side airbag module -2-.
• ‒ Press side airbag module -2- downward.
• ‒ Pull side airbag module -2- carefully towards outside.

• ◆ Installing

Note:

Always replace bolt - 4-.

• ‒ Mount side airbag module - 2- in such a way that the locking pins - 3- sit in the engaging holes - 7-.
• ‒ Push side airbag module up as far as possible.

• ‒ Tighten the new bolt -4- at side airbag module with a tightening torque of 10 Nm.
• ‒ Route airbag cable -5-..
• ‒ Connect yellow plug of airbag cable and black plug of airbag earthing cable underneath the seat.
• ‒ Reattach fitting panel.

• Locking pins
• Bolt
• ‒ Tightening torque 10 Nm
• Airbag cable
• Fastener
• Engaging holes

Notes:

• ◆ After connecting the battery, please ensure that the vehicle accessories (radio, clock, electric window lifters) are checked according to workshop manual and/or operating instructions.
• ◆ If the fault warning light (K 75) for airbag signals a fault after assembly the fault memory must be erased and again be interrogated by using fault reader V.A.G 1551.
