• Front seat backrest

• ◆ Removing

• ‒ Remove seat
• ‒ Remove drawers => Page 72-29
• ‒ Removing seat height adjustment lever -10-

Note:

If clamp -9- remains on lever when adjuster grip is removed, detach clip in order to avoid scratching side panel of seat.

• ‒ Remove backrest adjuster wheel -2-
• ‒ Remove bolts -6- (2x).
• ‒ Remove bolts -15- (2x).
• ‒ Suspend seat side panels -5- and -16- at rear bolting point and on upper side.
• ‒ Push seat side panels -5- and -16- backwards against upholstery, detaching clip -18- on both sides.
• ‒ Pull seat side panels -5- and -16- towards front.
• ‒ Disconnect backrest heating.
• ‒ On seats with side airbag, unplug connector for side airbag with earth cable from connector console => Page 69-99

• ‒ Remove inner fitting panels => Page 72-54
• ‒ Unscrew bolts -3- (3x).
• ‒ Unscrew bolt -4- (1x)

• ◆ Installing

Note:

Observe installation sequence for bolts -3- and -4-.

Always replace bolts -3- and -4-; recut threads before installing new bolts.

Observe installation direction of clamp -9- when installing => Page 72-26

• ‒ Remove bolts -3- and -4- in sequence -A-, -B-, -C-, and -D-.
• ‒ Always insert bolt -4- (chrome-plated) in this position.

• ‒ Remainder of installation is carried out in reverse order of removal.

• Adjuster knob
• Bolts (3x)
• ‒ Tightening torque 20 Nm
• Bolt (1x)
• ‒ Tightening torque 20 Nm
• Outer seat side panel
• Bolts (2x)
• ‒ Tightening torque 1.5 Nm
• Bolt (1x)
• ‒ Tightening torque 5 Nm
• Height adjustment lever
• ◆ Seat side panel removed
• ‒ Unscrew bolt -7-.
• Clamp
• Adjuster grip handle

• Front seat
• Lever
• ◆ Lever -12- and adjuster grip -13- are one replacement part.
• Adjuster grip handle
• Bowden cable cover
• ◆ Remove Bowden cable cover => Page 72-58
• Bolts (2x)
• ‒ Tightening torque 1.5 Nm
• Inboard side seat side panel
• Inner fitting panels
