Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • ◆ Release tool T10006

Separating

  • ‒ Remove driver's storage compartment.

=> General Body Repairs, Interior; Repair Group 68; Storage compartments/covers and trim panels; Removing driver's storage compartment

  • ‒ Remove brake light switch (square housing) .
  • ‒ Remove brake light switch (round housing) => Page 45-72.
  • ‒ Unplug connectors at clutch pedal switch/interlock switch.

  • ‒ → On vehicles with manual gearbox, remove -arrows- connecting plate between clutch and brake pedals.

Right-hand drive vehicles:

  • ‒ → Remove footrest -arrows-.

  • ‒ → If fitted, remove mounting bracket support -arrow-.

All models:

  • ‒ → Press brake pedal -1- towards brake servo and hold it in this position.
  • ‒ Insert release tool T10006 as shown and pull it towards driver's seat whilst counterholding brake pedal -1- (pedal must not move to rear in this instant). This presses retainer tabs -3- off ball end.
  • ‒ Pull both release tool T10006 and brake pedal towards driver's seat and thus disconnect brake pedal from ball end of pushrod.

Note:

Fig. shows separation of brake pedal from brake servo with pedal cluster removed.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

  • ‒ → Hold ball end of pushrod in front of mount and press brake pedal towards brake servo such that ball end is heard to engage.
  • ‒ Fit brake light switch (square housing) => Page 45-12.
  • ‒ Fit brake light switch (round housing) => Page 45-73.
