Determining thickness of shim “S4” when renewing output flange
Determining thickness of shim “S4” when renewing output flange
This adjustment is only necessary when renewing the output flange. It serves to re-set the required preload of the tapered roller bearings for the shaft bevel gear.
   
–  Measure length of shaft on removed output flange and new output flange and calculate the difference.

Example: 
Removed output flange25.80 mm
New output flange25.60 mm
Difference0.20 mm

If new output flange is longer:
–  Install a thinner shim for “S4” (thickness reduced by the difference calculated above).
If “old” output flange is longer:
–  Install a thicker shim for “S4” (thickness increased by the difference calculated above).
  Note
t  Available shims for “S4” → Anchor.
t  Tolerance variations make it possible to obtain the exact shim thickness required.
