Removing and installing locking cable
Removing and installing locking cable
   
Removing
–  Remove centre console (bottom) → Rep. Gr.68.
–  Press off retaining clip -2- for locking cable -3-.
  Note
Remove steering wheel, trim on left below the dashboard, steering column trim, handle for steering column adjustment if necessary to gain access to components.
–  Turn ignition key to “ignition on” position.
–  Pull off locking cable from ignition starter switch -1-.
–  Disengage locking cable from locking lever.

–  Compress lugs on retaining clip -arrows-.
–  Pull locking cable out of selector mechanism.

Do not kink locking cable

Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following:
–  Route locking cable correctly:
l  Routing -arrow- on left-hand drive vehicles.
  A37-0625
l  Routing -arrow- on right-hand drive vehicles.
  A37-0626
–  Turn ignition key to “ignition on” position.
–  Insert locking cable -3- in mounting hole on ignition/starter switch -1- as far as stop and lock with retaining clip -2-.
–  Insert nipple of locking cable into selector mechanism and press on support bracket until retaining clips engage.
–  Adjust locking cable → Chapter.
