Special tools and workshop equipment required

• ◆ Ball joint puller Matra V/176

Removing

• ‒ Unscrew nut from track rod end.

Note:

Leave nut screwed several turns onto track rod end to protect thread.

Audi A3:

• ‒ → Use puller Matra V/176 -Item 1- to press track rod off steering arm.

Audi S3:

• ‒ → Use puller Matra V/176 to press track rod off steering arm.

All models:

• ‒ → Provide support at track rod end -A- with 24 mm wrench when unfastening/tightening lock nut -B-.

Note:

Fig. shows Audi S3 vehicle.

• ‒ Unfasten lock nut -B-.
• ‒ Unscrew track rod end -A- from track rod -C-.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

→ Bellows are never to be twisted on installation as shown here
